Abstract
This deliverable presents updates of components for the Portal system, which were invoked by additional requirements arising from evaluation and testing in the scope of Trial 1. The modifications of the components were implemented within task T4.3 Implementation of additional requirements for the Portal system resulting from Trial 1 evaluation feedback. The deliverable describes the changes in dependencies and architectural modifications of portal components such as SPIKE Portal system, Alliance Manager, Display Manager, Intra Portlet Manager, Session Manager, and Report Manager.
Executive Summary
This report belongs to the set of D4.x, D5.x and D7.x deliverables that describe the stages of the software implementation efforts taken within the SPIKE project. Namely, this deliverable is the last report in the series of D4.2 documents, which is focused on the implementation of modules and components of the user interface, i.e. to the SPIKE Portal system. The presented description of software components, by means of two versions of WP4 outcomes (i.e. [D4.2a] and this report) will be directly used as an input specification for the upcoming system integration phase.
The current releases of the SPIKE Portal system components, as illustrated in this deliverable, are a result of SPIKE Trial 1. Previous releases of the portal components have been tested by the SPIKE user partners within their use cases. The results of the tests were published in [D9.3]. Results of Trial 1 testing brought a set of requirements for updating some of the portal components by means of changing their architectural design, specification, dependencies, or technical platform. These changes, described in this deliverable, were implemented as a final stage before the integration of all the modules and components into an unified SPIKE system.
Following the iterative and user-driven way of software development, the presented updates of the SPIKE Portal system components correspond to the second phase of the software development cycle [D3.1]. The modifications in the component design were invoked by user requirements coming from Trial 1 testing [D9.3] as well as from the upcoming integration of the whole SPIKE platform, which will be accomplished within WP8.
During the second development phase, research in the field of the SPIKE Portal system was mainly targeted at integrating technological platforms employed for security system, workflow and service handling, and business alliance management. The main research contributions of this deliverable are therefore as follows:
- Portlet designed as a user interface for workflow management.
- Enhancements towards the alliance setup and maintenance; updates in the Alliance Manager module.
- Solving integration issues of attribute-based security, workflow, alliance management, and reporting.
