Deliverable D.10.3a: Plan for using and disseminating knowledge
Abstract
This deliverable comprises an initial version of the plan for using and disseminating knowledge in the SPIKE project. In other words, it outlines the approach or policy that will be applied by the SPIKE consortium partners to increase awareness about the SPIKE project on both national and international level.
Executive Summary
The SPIKE (Secure Process-oriented Integrative Service Infrastructure for Networked
Enterprises) project has set quite ambitious goals concerning the technology being developed,
as well as the process of transferring the technology to actual business. To ensure the success
of the project and enhance the utilisation of the project results, the SPIKE project activities
will be complemented by extensive dissemination and utilisation efforts, which will continue
throughout the project life cycle.
The purpose of this plan is to outline the dissemination approach that will be applied in the
SPIKE project. It is used as a means of tailoring the dissemination strategy to correspond with
the objectives, needs, and expected outcomes of the project.
The ultimate goal of the dissemination efforts is to promote SPIKE’s utilisation and
exploitation, that is, to encourage widespread adoption and implementation of SPIKE
software modules, ideas, and strategies. Here, dissemination is seen as a multidirectional flow
of information, which requires both proactive and reactive dissemination channels. To fulfil
the goals of utilisation, the project results must respond to the needs of its audience, i.e. both
internal and external stakeholders. Thus, in addition to marketing and raising awareness about
the SPIKE project, an important objective of the dissemination efforts is also to collect
feedback and experiences from the stakeholders.
This deliverable is first made available in month 9, and officially updated when the project is
completed. However, the plan will be revised and reviewed also during this period. At the
beginning of the project, the plan will focus on:
Profiling the stakeholders and identifying their information needs.
Establishing guidelines for creating content to be published.
Choosing the media most suitable for reaching the dissemination targets.
Establishing agreement about the evaluation criteria of the dissemination activities.
Defining the dissemination responsibilities between the partners at a general level,
including, for example, which partner specialises in which dissemination area.
At the later stages of the project, the focus will be on documenting the dissemination efforts
in more detail, and assessing the results of the dissemination efforts. The dissemination
approach may even be modified along the way if the evaluation shows that the planned efforts
are not sufficient or well targeted.
